Podcast

Not to make this about me but...

is a podcast I created to support healing after narcissistic abuse and coercive control. We talk about impact, sensemaking, and what it feels like to slowly find ourselves again.

It began as part of my own healing, a space to think out loud, connect the dots, and share what I was learning in real time. It is both personal and educational, exploring the nuts and bolts of these experiences while offering language, insight, and connection for others going through their own recovery.

Some people listen as a way to reflect or learn more about their own experiences, some alongside therapy, and others as a first step before exploring somatic coaching, sounding board sessions, or the other resources I share here.

Wherever you are in your process, my hope is that it helps you feel seen, supported, and a little less alone.

Resources

A collection of supportive materials for women healing after narcissistic abuse, coercive control, trauma, stress, or long-term self-abandonment. These resources offer clarity, language, perspective, and grounding for anyone reconnecting with themselves and rebuilding their sense of safety and identity.

These are resources that I and others have found helpful. They are not a substitute for therapy. Please take what resonates, and leave what doesn't.

You're Not Crazy - It's Your Mother, Book - Blue and Purple

A grounding resource for anyone raised by a narcissistic mother. Danu’s work helps you separate your sense of self from theirs and recognise that you’re not the problem.

Letting Go, Book - White and Yellow

A gentle invitation to release resistance and move toward freedom through acceptance. Especially powerful if you’re learning to soften control and trust life again.

- If the concept scares you, believe me I was there too - it's a great read.

The Gift of Fear, Book - Red and White

An empowering read about recognising intuition as a form of protection. A must-read for rebuilding trust in your instincts after trauma or control.

Influence, The Psychology of Persuation, Book - Orange and Blue with White Text

A fascinating look at how persuasion works on every level of society—useful for understanding manipulation and reclaiming your agency.

Any Girl, Book, Cloudy Sky, Woman holding ball in front of face, ball is made of cloudy sky, Pink and Black text

A raw and deeply human memoir that captures the complexity of coercion and survival. It’s validating for anyone reclaiming their story after abuse.

Timekeepers, short film, nature scene with trees and back of boy with red clothing

A powerful short that captures coercive control through a child’s eyes—brief but unforgettable. Cathartic, but can also be triggering.

Waking Up App logo, Black background with blue/green gradient face outline from side profile

A clear, accessible way to build mindfulness and self-awareness in daily life—perfect if meditation has ever felt confusing or out of reach.

Feel the fear and do it anyway book, blue sky background with white clouds and blue and white writing

A simple but life-changing reminder that fear is universal — and learning to move forward despite it is what builds real confidence.

Abused by My Girlfriend Documentary picture, man with glasses looking upset against grey wall, white and black text

A powerful documentary showing how coercive control develops step by step — from subtle manipulation to full dependency — and how trauma bonding keeps victims trapped even when the abuse is visible.

Nobody should believe me podcast visual, black and purple background with sillouette of woman holding baby

Each season explores a different true case of Munchausen by Proxy, revealing recurring patterns of manipulation, control, and narcissism — a powerful listen for understanding how these dynamics play out in real life.

Thought Reform, the Psychology of Totalism - Black with red text and side profile line drawing of man facing left

A detailed, research-based look at how coercive control works, breaking down the psychology of thought reform used by the Chinese Communist Party. It’s a deep dive but incredibly relevant for understanding control tactics in any context.

The Cult Next Door podcast visual, Pinkesh beige home zoom in with red windows and doors and steps, white writing

A powerful reminder that not all cults look like we expect. Two siblings explore their experiences of growing up in a narcissistic family cult, and how it shaped their sense of identity, perception, and belonging.
